Whole mushrooms contain beneficial compounds but in lower amounts. Our 12:1 extraction concentrates these compounds to therapeutic levels and breaks down chitin (indigestible cell walls), making nutrients bio available and effective.

“Fruiting body only” means we use just the mature mushroom (cap and stem), not mycelium and not the grain it grows on.

The Difference Between Hardwood and Grain Substrates:

Hardwood: Growing mushrooms on hardwood (or sawdust blocks derived from hardwood) mimics the mushroom's natural environment. This method produces fully developed fruiting bodies rich in beta-glucans and triterpenes.

Grain: Growing mycelium on grain (rice, oats, rye) is cheaper and faster, but the end product contains large amounts of starch. This dilutes the actual beta-glucan content. Many tests can even mistake starch for beta-glucans, leading to misleading labels.

In Summary: Hardwood-grown fruiting body extracts deliver higher potency and purity, while grain-grown mycelium products are cheaper but much weaker.

When comparing mushroom supplements, it’s important to understand what you’re actually buying.

1. Fruiting Body Extract vs. Non-Extracted Fruiting Body
Even if a company uses fruiting bodies, most simply grind them into powder.  While this contains nutrients, the beneficial compounds are locked inside chitin (mushroom cell walls), which humans cannot fully digest.  Our 12:1 patented extraction process concentrates and releases these compounds, meaning 1 gram of Life Force 7 extract ≈ 12 grams of non-extracted fruiting body.  You’d need twelve times more plain fruiting body powder to equal the potency of Life Force 7.

2. Fruiting Body Extract vs. Mushroom Powder (Most Competitors)
Most brands don’t even use pure fruiting bodies.  They use the whole mushroom, including stems, mycelium (roots), and grain substrate, which significantly lowers active compound levels (especially beta-glucans).  This means their 150g bag may look cheaper, but you’re paying mostly for starch and filler, not therapeutic potency.
